Yoga Therapy

Yoga therapy for nervous system regulation and emotional wellbeing.

DSC09883.jpg

Yoga therapy is an emerging health profession that integrates contemporary neuroscience, psychology and the therapeutic application of yoga to support emotional and physical well-being.

Your yoga therapy journey is tailored to your unique needs, offering a grounded and evidence informed pathway towards resilience and balance. Whether you are navigating anxiety, burnout, trauma, chronic stress, physical health challenges or life transitions, this work provides a structured and compassionate framework for sustainable change.

Rooted in a trauma informed approach, each session cultivates safety, clarity and empowerment. Through intentional movement, breath regulation, somatic awareness and reflective integration, you are supported in strengthening your inner resources and developing practical tools that extend into daily life.

No prior yoga experience is required.

My intention is to empower you with tools that foster self-compassion, resilience, and a deeper connection to yourself, supporting you to move forward with greater ease and confidence while meeting you exactly where you are.

First thing first - What is yoga therapy?

Yoga therapy blends ancient yogic practices with modern scientific understanding. It recognises the interconnectedness of body, mind and nervous system, and works with the whole person rather than focusing on symptoms alone.

T.K.V. Desikachar, a highly respected pioneer in yoga therapy during the 20th century, described yoga therapy as a self empowering process in which the individual, supported by a therapist, develops a personalised and evolving practice that addresses challenges in a multidimensional and complementary way.

Heather Mason, founder of The Minded Institute, an organisation at the forefront of integrating yoga therapy with mental health and neuroscience, describes yoga therapy as an emerging healthcare profession grounded in yogic techniques and philosophy, offering a client centred and evidence informed approach to health.

Yoga therapy may serve as preventative support, complementary care alongside medical treatment, or a focused therapeutic pathway

The yoga therapy journey

Yoga therapy is a process of assessing the whole person.

Your journey begins with a comprehensive intake consultation exploring your history, needs and intentions. Together we co-create a therapeutic plan that aligns with your lifestyle and supports measurable progress.

Ongoing sessions typically include:

  • Check in and reflection

  • Somatic and mindful movement tailored to your nervous system

  • Breath regulation practices

  • Restorative or relaxation work

  • Self awareness and integration practices

After each session, you receive individualised practices to support continuity and resilience between appointments.

The focus is sustainable change, nervous system stability and embodied self understanding.

Start with a complimentary 15 minute discovery call to explore whether yoga therapy is aligned for you.
